Polish Ingredients – Mayonnaise

Pictured above: Traditional Polish Vegetable Salad

I believe many people will agree with me on this – Polish mayo does not taste the same like any other mayo. For some reason it is different, thicker, more creamy, it has also distinctive taste that other mayonnaises simply do not have. The reason for this is most likely the seasoning and addition of mustard as well.

There are many brands of Polish mayonnaise, they all taste similar but my personal favourite is Winiary mayo. I must admit this is one of those kitchen essentials I would never be able to substitute, ever… Are there any Polish products that you can’t live without?

Mayonnaise is very popular in Polish cuisine – from hard boiled eggs topped with dollops of mayo, through mayonnaise based dips to salads (not only pasta but also rice, couscous, veggie and fruit salads) covered in seriously generous amounts of mayo.

Below you can find couple of Polish (or popular among Poles) recipes calling for mayonnaise. Enjoy!
